Bighorn Fishing Report 9/16/2021

    Current Conditions

The Bighorn is fishing well at the moment. The PMD hatch remains thick and starts at around 11. Once that hatch in done I would switch to a hopper dropper rig with a frenchie or some other pmd nymph as a dropper. Nymphs rigs are not recommended due to the sheer amount of weeds floating down the river(barbless hooks help though. Streamer fishing should be productive in the mornings and on cloudy days. A sparkle minnow or a black gonga should do the trick. Getting in on the PMD action has been the way to go. The fish can be picky so make your first cast count!

If you have any questions don't hesitate to call the shop at 406.586.2188. Keep 'em wet.

The Bighorn has been fishing well this last week. Nymphing has been the best method to catch fish but a few fish have been tricked with midge dries and streamers. Nymphing with sowbugs/scuds and midges have been the most effective. The dry fly action has potential but just needs some relatively calm conditions for fish to start looking up. Streamer fishing has been effective dredging the bottom of big deep holes with darker flies and a sink tip.
