Keeping up with demand…who would have ever thought?
One of the challenges this year has just been maintaining stock levels as the fly-fishing industry is experiencing unprecedented demand throughout the country. Add that demand on top of the disruption from the lockdowns and shutdowns we experienced in the spring and the complexity of the situation quickly becomes apparent. And then, just to round it out, most of the offshore manufacturing in Asia was halted and much of the inbound goods were/have been quarantined for unspecified periods of time. So, when you notice that retail shelves are starting to look thin – this is what’s going on.
Sage manufacturing was closed for a couple of months, resulting in a massive hole across the board in some of our most popular products. To their credit, they have been working harder than ever to build new rods, fulfill existing orders, and to service warranty issues at quickly as possible.
The Sage Foundation Rod/Reel Outfit is one of the best values we have to have offer our customers in the entry level category and it’s great to have them back in stock once again – they won’t last long though. The American Made fly rod features a fast-action blank with a matte black finish and the same Graphite IIIe technology found in more expensive models. The large arbor Sage Spectrum C reel comes with a Rio Gold fly line, making this outfit one that is easy to learn while having the performance attributes to keep this outfit relevant for years to come. The Sage Foundation Rod is covered under Sage’s lifetime repair policy as well – currently $25 for this model.
Good gear makes learning to fly fish easier and more enjoyable. A well-made rod will easily load when paired with the appropriate fly line which, in turn, makes for quick and intuitive understanding of the importance of stopping and accelerating through the casting stroke. A premium fly line floats longer, casts easier, and will last much longer than typical entry level fly lines.
