Missouri River Fishing Report 6/14/2021
Current Conditions
The flows on the Missouri River is now up to 3600cfs. We have heard that the flows will not be bumped up much at all throughout the entire summer. This could mean difficult fishing on the MO later in the year. Nymphing has been best with PMD nymphs and Caddis pupa patterns. Perdigons, and Midges have also been getting fish. The PMD fishing has gotten significantly better in the late morning to afternoon and evening caddis hatches have been getting better nearly daily. Streamer fishing has been hit or miss but it's always worth a shot. Expect crowds. Possibly as bad as the lower madi this last weekend. More float tubes/mile than fish. When you find fish up it is worth toughing out the crowds.

The Mo' near Craig will be one of the better fly fishing options. This stretch has been nymphing really well with some good Midge fishing on top as well. The BWO's won't be too far off so keep an eye out for bugs on the surface and rising trout. For sub-surface, San Juan Worms, Zebra midges, Rainbow Warriors, Scuds/Sowbugs, or smaller Perdigons will get it done. Streamers have been worth a shot but is definitely a day-to-day game. Spey fishing is also a good idea if you are wade fishing and want to reach some of those harder runs out in the middle.

Missouri River Overview
The Missouri River is formed with the confluence of the Jefferson, Madison, and Gallatin rivers near Three Forks, Montana. The blue-ribbon stretches of the river are generally considered downstream in the “tail-water” sections, which are formed below several reservoirs. The best trout fishing section of the Missouri River is the stretch of river downstream from Holter Lake that our guides fish in the spring and early summer. Closer to Bozeman is the stretch of the Missouri River around Toston Reservoir which is a great mid-summer Carp destination that also holds a few large trout seasonally.
