Waterworks-Lamson Fly Rods in Bozeman
Here in our Bozeman fly shop, we stock a pile of fly rods from most of the major brands in the game today as we know that nothing makes casting a fly simpler to learn than having the right rod for your style and application.
We make no secrets about it here at Fins & Feathers of Bozeman, after flies – fly rods are the coolest pieces of gear we have to mess with in this sport we all love. Fast ones, slow ones, plain ones, sexy ones, single-piece, multi-piece, graphite, boo, and even fiberglass – they all have something that makes them unique and fun to fish with at one time or another. Here in our Bozeman fly shop, we stock a pile of fly rods from most of the major brands in the game today as we know that nothing makes casting a fly simpler to learn than having the right rod for your style and application. With all of this in mind, we are excited to add the Purist and Velocity lineup of application-specific fly rods from our good friends at Waterworks-Lamson.

The Velocity series is fast-action, high modulus family of high-performance fly rods that are ideal for everyday use on the waters around Bozeman. Whether you are streamer fishing on the Yellowstone, slugging it out with big rubber-legs on the upper Madison, or casting Drakes in the wind on the lower – the Velocity is built to perform in the most demanding of situations. Well-appointed with Zebra wood real seat inserts and a premium cork handle in a modified ritz profile, the pearl shadow blank is called out with subtle, orange thread accent wraps. The Velocity series of fast-action fly rods are available in sizes 4-6 for $399 and 7-8 for $449.

The Purist - on the other hand – is just what you want when staring into a line of subtle nose-rings on the East Gallatin during a late summer Trico spinner fall. These 2-Piece presentation rods load and transfer energy with that classic, smooth feel every dry fly angler comes to appreciate as “proper” at one time or another. The classic action feel of the blanks is enhanced by the rods 2-piece construction and a blend of both snake and single-foot guides. The Zero G tip is a fine diameter, light-wire tip-top with minimal wraps to keep the tip feeling light throughout the cast. The Purist is available in sizes 3-5 for $399.
Waterworks-Lamson is best known for their reels – no question about it – but it’s their innovation in reel design that has made them a staple in the industry. Innovations like conical drags, internal counterbalances, and over-the-top machining to reduce weight while increasing line control has made their reels a favorite for at least a couple generations of anglers. Their forays into fly rods have always been about bringing innovation – it’s not just to bring another fly rod to market – and their new lineup of rods for 2021 are no exception. In addition to the rod designs and finishes, the new rods from Waterworks Lamson also have a unique “Lockdown” feature which seats the real into machined rails on the real seat, creating a rock-solid connection between the reel and the rod.

Waterworks-Lamson is an Idaho based company that offers both American and overseas built reels, designed by their internal R&D team. The Purist and Velocity fly rod families are made overseas and covered by the WWL Lifeline Warranty which intends to get your back on its way to you within a week of receiving it along with the $50 flat rate repair fee.
Our Bozeman fly shop features nearly 200 unique fly rods that you can compare and cast right next to one another, every day of the year. Whether you are in search of the perfect Euro-Stick or just looking to get your first rod/reel combo – we have you covered.
