Spring Creeks Fishing Report 8/27/2021
Current Conditions
The spring creeks located around the Bozeman area are fishing well due to the consistent temperatures of the water. Small terrestrials are a good option at the moment. Ants and beetles are good patterns to use to target fish on the surface along with light hoppers. PMD's have been few and far between. Midges are coming off and the fish will rise to them decently well on calm days. Otherwise use small unweighted mayfly and caddis imitations to catch fish subsurface, pheasant tails, micro mays, caddis pupa, and juju baetis are good patterns. Use a long leader and light tippet to properly present the flies to the fish, a 5x 10 foot leader will do the job.

The Spring Creeks are a great option whenever paradise valley is not crazy windy. There has not been much for dry fly action recently but the midges should be coming in a few weeks or so. The BWO's won't be far behind. For best success use flies such as WD-40, RS2s, Zebra Midges, Manhattan Midge, Tube Midge, Jujubee Flash Midge, sowbugs/scuds, worms, and caddis larva. Long leaders and light tippet in Fluorocarbon can be a game changer for these fish, make sure you are well equipped to get technical on these trout if headed this way.
