11/14 MGTU Meeting Recap
Last nights Madison-Gallatin Trout Unlimited meeting covered what the chapter has been up to and also was the annual Chili Throwdown. Many bowls of tasty chili were consumed and voted upon and surprisingly there was a tie for “Chili King”. Unfortunately, the winner was not from your Bozeman Fly Shop. It was a tough and tight competition with 16 different chilis in the running. After chowing far too much chili the meeting began.
Chris Kumlien filled us in on what the chapter has been up to. This included restoration projects, a few details about the upcoming banquet and ways that members and non-members can get involved. As Kris was finishing up his talk, he introduced Jeff Dunn. Jeff is the Upper Missouri Project Manager, a newly assigned position dedicated to Bozeman area watersheds. Jeff introduced himself and explained his position and how as the Project Manager he will be helping out with the conservation and preservation projects of our pristine Bozeman trout streams and rivers. We are lucky to have Jeff focusing his efforts on the Upper Missouri River!
The meeting had a great turnout with 85 people in attendance. Spirits were not high after the downfall of I-186 until the chili tasting began. Next month’s general meeting will be held at Springhill Suites on December 12th. We hope to see everyone there!
