‘Alignment’ - Stoked on Fishing and Snowboarding
Like many Bozemanites, I moved here for the snow. Then I fell in love with fly fishing.
It is the perfect, what was then, off-season activity for me. Snowboarding consistently beat up most bones and muscles in my body. Fishing was a great way to get outside during the warmer months, explore the region and try to solve the what-are-they-eating puzzle. It offered a great balance, a time to let my body recooperate while still being outside and playing a game but without the intensity of jumping off cliffs.
Pro-snowboarder Eric Jackson has a similar mentality. He spent last winter in British Columbia sending crazy lines on his snowboard in the backcountry and swinging for steelhead in the rivers up there.
He made a video about his experience, called Alignment, which you can view here. And here is a link to an interview he did with Transworld Snowboarding, where he talks about finding a happy median between his two biggest passions.
We hope you enjooy the video and get stoked on the upcoming ski season and fishing in waders and a puffy, hunting for some of those big fish we tend to see more of this time of year. As always, stop by our Bozeman Fly Shop and we’ll get you set up for a day on the water.
