Back on the Water

It had been awhile since I’d been fishing, longer than before I care to mention in fact. It wasn’t a conscious decision just on thing after another kept creeping in and taking precedence. Yes, even shop rats and guides have responsibilities. Anyways, the new year seemed to be a good excuse to drop everything for a little while and hit the water.

Boy was it worth it!
I won’t hide anything we hit the Gallatin and they were gobbling black rubberlegs. But apart form the trout just getting out and zoning out with the river is what it’s all about. Even fishing with a buddy there is a solitary therapy that only the river can supply, and I was in need of it.

I also finally got to try my new Patagonia Rio Gallegos waders. They’ve been staring at me from from their sealed box for well over a month. My last pair of Patagonia waders didn’t fit very well, but Patagonia has been hard at work reworking their fit and now they fit great. I could get into all the tweaks and improvements, but if you’re interested just stop by and check them out in the shop. They are really nice and worth the look.

Anyways, I’m starting to go off on a tangent. Basically I can’t recommend getting out and enjoying Montana’s winter fishing enough. Come see us on your way out and we’ll set you on the right direction for the best fishing, least amount of slush and the best bugs for a great outing.
