Being smart in bear country
We have had some reports of bear sightings among a few anglers near some of the local streams. This is a friendly reminder that you are in bear country here in southwest Montana. The best means of preventing an a negative encounter is bear spray. It is wise to always carry bear spray with you whether you are fishing the streams or hiking the trails. Never leave food out or anything that may have a scent and always clean up after yourselves especially after cooking. Store ALL of your trash in bear proof containers. Bears have an extremely strong sense of smell often relying on their nose leading them to grub. It is important that we coexist with these furry treasured residents. So please be bear safe and bear wise in this beautiful country!
