Big Hole Update | Bozeman Fly Shop
The Big Hole River is one of my favorite rivers this time of year. Skwalas are usually around this time of year (the peak of the hatch is behind us know) and when they aren’t, the fish continue to look for them. The streamer fishing is almost always reliable with big articulated flie in white or yellow, which makes for a very visual experience. Several of our guides and friends have been hittin it hard he last few weeks on their days offf and having a blast, so add that to your list of possibilities this weekend! We have been selling lots of patterns out of our Bozeman fly shop to folks heading that way this weekend…Yellow Dungeons!
FWP sent out the “email” below concernign a blockage of a river channel between Notch Bottom and Glen, so please read below and be careful out there!
The FWP Regional River Ranger, Andrew Puls, has posted warning signs at affected Big Hole FAS sites warning of a downed tree that completely blocks a river channel. The Blockage is located in a channel between Glen and Notch on a blind bend in the river which leaves little or no time to react to the hazard. Andrew has also posted a 22” x 34” orange sign on site today warning floaters of the channel blockage. The sign is on the river left bank approximately 200 yards upstream of the channel split and should be sufficiently visible to floaters. A short film showing the blockage has also been posted on the FWP Facebook page.
