Cooling Down

Old man winter may finally make an appearance later with week and into next week. Not much snow in the forecast but temps look to be dipping into the teens at night and highs in the twenties and thirties. It is time though. Fishing in early December while it’s fifty degrees out is kind of strange. The cold front will also bring some winds in the mid teens gusting to mid twenties, which with the cooler temps might make it a little nippy out there. The rivers will probably get some shelf ice and a little slushy, and the fish will take a little while to get used to the cooler water temps, but give them a couple days and fish deep and the good winter nymphing should be here soon. Also later next week the highs are supposed to creep up around the thirty mark, which if it’s overcast or even a little snowy then watch out for some midge hatches.
