Fishing the 4th
There aren’t very many fishing opportunities available for this 4th of July. However, with a little imagination you can find some fish to catch. I fished some ponds in town the last few nights and did good on leeches. None of the ponds were overly busy for it being a holiday weekend, which was nice. I know many of you may be just visiting and pond fishing isn’t your idea of Montana fishing, but with the current high water conditions ponds are a great place to retreat to.
Some other places you might want to check out this 4th of July. Upper Madison River above the West Fork, between Hebgen and Quake (will be very busy), the Beaverhead River, the Big Hole River, smaller mountain steams are mostly running high but clear, and area lakes.
Overall keep it safe and fun this 4th of July!
