Heading Out?
Always amazing to us how folks want to head out to the river for a few hours when the temperature is well below freezing. We applaud these hearty folks for their determination! However, things on the big rivers are pretty “chunky” right now with lots of floating ice on both the Gallatin and Madison. The Gallatin has a lot of shelf ice, so be careful once things warm up a little bit. The lower Madison is pretty solid with floating ice chunks and anchor ice is pretty well spread too. So, might be better tying weather unless you’re thinking spring creeks the next few days.
