Of Snow and Rising Trout

There’s been snow in the mountains for a couple weeks now; meanwhile the valley floor been relatively dry, just some cold rain here and there. This weekend brings our first real chance of valley snow, which may and should translate into great dry fly fishing on baetis and midges! I don’t know what it is about snow showers when the temps are right around the 32°F mark, but the insects go crazy and in turn the trout do too. Those conditions also translate in to prime streamer weather too! So, if you’ve got some free time this weekend grab your streamer and itty-bitty dry boxes and hit the rivers!
