September came in hot here in SW Montana. It was over 90 degrees for the first three days of the month, which was hotter than most days in August this year. We woke up this morning to a welcomed cold front. The high today is only forcasted to be in the mid 70’s which we are happy to see.

We are starting to notice the decrease in tourism here in the shop over the last week. Along with a few more of the local faces starting to come out of their summer hiding spots. Fishing, as always, will start to pick up here in the weeks to come as temps start to fall and the Browns start to stage for the spawn. Mid September tell the end of October is one of the best times of the year to be on the water. Many of the streamer junkies come out of the wood work during this time in search of the big Browns.

Another aspect to fishing in the Fall is the decrease in fishing pressure. The first weekend in September is big game archery opener here in Montana which draws many regular fisherman to the woods and away from the rivers. As the weather starts to get colder a lot of the “every other weekend” anglers start to put their equipment away for the season and move onto other activities.

The guide schedule is starting to fill in for the the next few weeks. We still have openings for most days at this point, but that can change quickly. As far as the shop goes we are all stocked up on bugs and all the other essential goodies needed for a day on the water. We also have several iteams on sale at the moment. These can be found under the Closeout tab on our website,

From all of us here at Fins and Feather, have a great September!
