Southwest Montana Snow Report

After several days of dumping snow around Montana the Bozeman area river drainages have a snow water equivalent of over 100% of historic values. To our Bozeman fly shop, this is some fantastic news. More likely than not all of this snow will hold all of our rivers over for the entire summer. Beyond the snow already have the forecast predicts snow tonight and next Wednesday through Friday. A lot of snow means cooler river temps throughout the season, epic insect hatches and healthy, happy, hungry trout. The freezing high temperatures in Montana have kept us stuck inside daydreaming about huge browns crushing a #6 salmon fly pattern on the Upper Madison. Now out of February it feels like this daydream cannot be too far off. If fishing the Madison, Gallatin, Jefferson or Yellowstone in 2019 interests you be sure to look into our guided fly-fishing trips for a fun filled day of catching trout on Montana’s most iconic rivers.
