Stay Warm With R1
Winter weather has hit us hard here in the Gallatin Valley once again. Not that we are complaining as winter time on Montana is supposed to be cold and snowy! However, fishing has been good over the last couple of weeks on the lower Madison and it doesn’t take much in terms of frigid air to get us off the water and back in the shop.
One of the best pieces of winter gear (clothing) that we’ve come across the last couple of years is the R1 Hoody from Patagonia. The R1 fleece has some of the best insulation per loft properties of any performance fleece on the market. Moisture moves from inside to out (wicking) quickly, keeping you warm and dry without the bulk commonly found in other mid-layer fabrics. The hood and overall cut of the R1 hoody is designed for technical use, which means it fits snugly and is designed to move how you move. The hood is particularly amazing in how it fits and moves under a heavier layer like the Salt River Jacket, allowing a full range of movement while rowing, walking, or skiing.
It’s sometimes hard for us to get too excited about clothing as we tend to put the fishing first! However, there are a few “core products” we have come to absolutely appreciate when the weather says no but the fish say yes. Check them out online or in the shop!
