The Summer Life
Hard to believe that the summer is quietly slipping away so soon. What a strange season we’ve seen this year is about all I can say at this point when it comes to fishing the big rivers. One day is great, the next so, one morning is fantastic and the next morning is so tough you can’t buy a fish. While the banks have been loaded with golden stone shucks for over a month now, the fish have been on them sporadically at best. The hopper fishing has been day to day for the most part as well, while the spruce moth dry fly fishing has probably been the most consistent of anything. Through it all though, we’ve been finding some nice fish and have had a lot of water to choose from this year thanks to more normal snow pack last winter. Hoppers, nymphs, and streamer fishing from here on out as the nights get longer and cooler…enjoy the rest of the summer because it’s going to be gone before you know it!
