Thursday Thoughts

Happy first day of Spring 2014, though it hardly felt like spring to me today! We have been super busy in the shop the last few months and I can’t help but feeling like we are immersed in projects that will never be finished!

One cool thing that we just completed is having our website reworked so that it is now “responsive.” I’m not exactly sure what this means to be honest, but the website is now much easier to navigate on using mobile devices. So, if things look a little goofy at times right now, it most likely has to do with us needing to resize a bunch of images. This has been in the works the last month or so and it will probably be that long before we can make all the image changes. Just a heads up if you are wondering!

We have been working on a new e-commerce site for about a year and a half as well. It looks like we will have that up and running in 2-3 weeks, so probably about two months if it continues on the same pace. So, if you come in the shop and see us huddled over the computers…that’s what we are working on!

We are also in the final stages of being approved to guide in Yellowstone National Park this year. There is still some paperwork to be completed before we can start marketing and booking those trips, but that’s another big project that we’ve been working on.

Next, we are hosting Orvis Fly Fishing Schools in 2014. This has been in the works for the last few years and it’s been very satisfying for all of us to get onboard with this program. Learn more on our website or go to and click on the Bozeman school for more information.

New products have been coming in constantly the last couple of months. We have done a poor job of getting the word out as we are trying to get the e-commerce site going so that we can promote the products online. Some of the recent highlights include reels by the Bozeman Reel Company, Cheeky Reels, and the new Orvis CFO Reel. Some new fly lines including Scientific Anglers Sharkwave and Rio Perception are in stock as well. The new women’s wader and wading jacket by Patagonia is now in stock. Our fly tying department continues to grow just about every week and the new products are just too many to list here, so come in and browse around. Flies, flies and more flies are arriving all the time right now and we are hoping to have new fly bin displays up by the end of next week. Lots of good stuff happening at the shop and on the rivers right now, so we hope to see you soon!

Thank you to everyone for letting us be a part of your fly fishing life this winter!
