UPDATE: Gallatin River | Upstream
Today the Gallatin River has seen a change in water conditions. It is now discolored with roughly 18 inches of visibility. Most of this was caused by the warm, sunny weather from yesterday that accelerated the snowmelt in the high country. The heavy afternoon rains from two days ago also contributed to the current state of water clarity. THIS RIVER IS STILL FISHING. The angler will want to drop a rubber legs or whatever their favorite stonefly nymph is off the back of a dry fly as the fish the banks. As always a double nymph rig is your best bet for taking the most fish. A stonefly nymph followed by a copper john, pheasant tail, or yellow sally imitation will take fish.
