Women’s Trout Spey 101
The 2019 Women’s Trout Spey 101 has been rescheduled for April 20th. Find all of the details below.
Swinging flies on a Mini-Two-Hander” is gaining traction around Bozeman as a fun and innovative way to fish our local rivers. Modern technology in rods and lines has made this style of fishing practical and effective in the world of fly-fishing for trout. Here at Fins & Feathers, we have been working hard to learn and understand the various intricacies ourselves so that we can help with meaningful advice and instruction out of our Bozeman fly shop.
Along the way, we have been having a blast and finding a few fish here and there too. Whether it’s swinging soft-hackles or heavy streamers, we have a Trout Spey solution that works just right.
Join us, April 20th, as we add Women’s Trout Spey 101 to our ever-popular “Fly-Fishing 101” program. This free, 3-hour class is geared towards the beginner, curious, or novice spey angler (no experience required). We’ll cover the gear and rig basics and then get our feet wet and work on understanding the cast and swing.
All you have to do is register by emailing our Bozeman fly shop and we’ll get you signed up! We will have gear for use and demo in case you don’t have your own already. Bring your own waders and boots if you have them; we have some for use for those that don’t already have their own as well.
The class will run from 9-12 on Sunday, April 20th, and is scheduled to take place on the lower Madison river (exact location TBA). Kurt Kruger of Sage Fly Fishing will be the lead instructor along with the crew from Fins & Feathers. We are limiting the registration to 15 ladies so make your reservations while there are still spaces available! The event is free of charge.
