Yellowstone Salmonflies Update
There big bugs out on the Yellowstone throughout the valley stretches. The main bulk of the bugs are on a certain ornithological float right now, and there are LOTS of them! The hatch isn’t constant but there are certain banks were the bushes are full. Late in the afternoon, after things warm up, the bugs have been flying in good numbers and the trout are loving it. Good Salmonfly fishing on the Yellowstone is uncommon, because typically the runoff is in full swing when the bugs come off. This year though the trout gods are smiling on us, and if at all possible everyone should get out and experience the explosive rise of trout trying to choke down a size 4 dry fly.
