YNP Fly Fishing Reports
YNP Report 10/15/2020
Current Conditions
Yellowstone Park has been a great area for fishing. Less traffic on the roads and less overall pressure in certain areas. The focus is on the upper Madison for the migrating brown trout. Fishing small soft hackles, leeches, and single hook streamers can be good. Remember, these are lake run fish, so fish for them like lake fish. The areas around West Yellowstone are going to be significantly more populated than the areas in the NE corner. That said, it is a great time to catch a large brown on the fly. The BWO's should start appearing in thick numbers soon especially on an overcast and wet day. Bring bear spray when you head into the park and check the regulations beforehand. Use worms after any precipitation event for great success.
