YNP Fly Fishing Reports
YNP Report 9/29/2021
Current Conditions
Terrestrial action is slowing down in the Park so it is best to go prepared for fall hatches. Depending on where you go mayflies like Hecubas, PMDs, and Mahoganies. caddis will also start to appear in the warmer afternoons. As fall approaches brown trout will start to stage for spawning, so fishing streamers can be an effective method, especially on the Madison. A dry dropper rig isn't a bad way to go on warmer days, but cooler weather is in the forecast. Nymphing will be productive with mayfly nymph imitations and caddis pupa.
Remember to pinch barbs and no lead in Yellowstone National Park.
The Park is closed to fishing for the season. Get out there next year!
