Learn From the Best
Among other things, learning to fly-fish or tie flies can seem overwhelming and intimidating at first glance to most people. We offer a wide range of classes for anglers and fly-tyers that emphasize the basics in a laid-back and effective format, carefully crafted over the last 20 years. Specialty classes are offered throughout the year and include topics like Spey Casting, Advance Casting Techniques, European Nymph Strategies, and focused fly tying classes.
Class options, itineraries, and dates are described with each of the offerings listed below. Registration for our classes can be made online at our Events Page. Please inquire with our Outreach Director for availability and options regarding private fly-fishing or fly-tying class details.
Fly Tying Classes
The “art” of tying flies seems more like “back-alley dark magic” to the untrained eye, but actually is much more attainable than one would expect. The fundamentals and techniques that are used to create any fly are all built upon the basics. Our introductory classes have been carefully refined over the last 20 years to deliver efficient instruction in an easy-going and concise format.Learn More
Montana Fly Fishing Guide School
The Fins & Feathers Fly Fishing Guide School has been born out of necessity rather than opportunity – as most of the similar schools today. We have worked very hard to build a growing enterprise that is pillared by an exceptional base of returning clients each year.Learn More
We understand the challenges of coordinating schedules and realize that our schedules don’t always work for everyone. Private classes are available for both fly-tying and fly-fishing seminars to groups of 8 or more people. We can easily customize a plan for everything from the basics of tying a few flies at a birthday party to an all-day fishing event for a large corporate retreat. Reach out to our Outreach Director via email to get the conversation started today.
Pricing and availability is dependent on many factors, including time of year, off-site location, number of participants, and whether or not equipment will be needed. Our mobile fly shop - the Fly Fish Truck - is a great tool to have for our remote fly-fishing classes as it provides an interactive venue unlike any other.Learn More
