Chenille/Yarns

Chenille and yarn are two types of synthetic materials commonly used in fly tying to create the bodies of flies.

Chenille is a soft and fuzzy material that comes in a variety of colors and thicknesses. It is often used to create the bodies of larger flies, such as woolly buggers, as well as streamers and nymphs. Chenille can be wrapped tightly around the hook to create a full-bodied fly with a textured appearance.

Yarn is another popular material for creating the bodies of flies. It comes in a wide range of colors and textures, and can be used to create patterns that imitate everything from midges and caddisflies to larger terrestrial insects. Yarn can be wrapped tightly around the hook to create a slender and smooth-bodied fly, or used in conjunction with other materials like chenille to create a more textured appearance.
